Nancy：It’s good to see you too， Victor

Victor：今天我们要谈的是找工作的话题。

Nancy：Today we’re going to talk about applying， application， and applicant.

Victor：我们想去外企求职，就说：

Nancy：“I’m applying for a job.”

Victor：或者去申请留学：

Nancy：“I’m applying to college.”

Victor：通常我们需要先填张申请表：

Nancy：Yeah， the form is called an “application，” and you are an “applicant.” So you could say， “I’m applying for a job， I just filled out the application.”

Victor：这三个词都比较长，长的也比较像，不要记混哦。找工作用apply for a job， 想要得到这个工作，你得先填个application工作申请表， 你是applicant申请人。跟Nancy 来复习一遍：

Nancy：I’m applying for a job.

Victor：I’m applying for a job.

Nancy：“Audrey Hepburn was in Roman Holiday.”

Victor：Nancy刚才说到我最喜欢的女演员奥黛丽•赫本，那么她在罗马假日里饰演角色用“in”

Nancy：When you’re talking about an actor in a movie， you never， ever say， “acted by.”

Victor：好多同学说acted by ，其实是错误的。

Nancy：you should say ，for example“Audrey Hepburn was in Roman Holiday.”or“Audrey Hepburn starred in Roman Holiday.”

Victor：用两个单词一个“in”一个“star”非常的简单。

Nancy：You say “starred” when the person has a big part， or leading role.

Victor：尤其是主角或重要角色，一定要用“star”这个动词。

Nancy：“Audrey Hepburn was in Roman Holiday.”

Victor：“Audrey Hepburn was in Roman Holiday.”

Nancy：“Audrey Hepburn starred in Roman Holiday.”

Victor：“Audrey Hepburn starred in Roman Holiday.”

男：今天我们谈论非常好玩的话题，还是跟吃有关：potluck

女：“We’re having a potluck dinner.” it means everyone has to bring a dish. This is really common between college students， because they don’t have any money.

男：potluck就是每个人带一个菜去，即简单又实惠。

女：If you say， “Would you like to come to dinner? It’s only potluck， but you’re welcome.”

男：家里没什么好吃的，不太好意思邀请朋友来做客吧？

女： That means， you can come over， but I’m sorry， I don’t have any good food to give you， so this is for good friends only.

男：和好朋友就可以友好地提出这种potluck dinner的邀请，像我这样爱呼朋唤友的单身汉可一定得学会这个词哦。

女：We’re having a potluck dinner

男：We’re having a potluck dinner

女：Would you like to come to dinner? It’s potluck.
